My brother and I got an apartment together and his girlfriend and her two daughters, 4 and 2 1/2, eventually moved in too. They constantly ask to watch this show. Every time I hear the theme song or hear the kid talk, it sends a shiver down my spine; I guess that's what cringe means. I've tried to curb their watching of this show by putting my VCR in the living room and getting them interested in Disney movies. So far they have shown an interest in other things like Little Mermaid, Princess and the Frog, and even Superman and Wonder Woman shows. Yet they still like to watch this mind-numbing nerve-grating misery of a kid's show.

i used to really really hate this show because i didn't like the way Caillou whined. then i didn't mind it so much when i realised that all kids whine, and at least Caillou is a nice kid that doesn't hit other kids when they do something he doesnt like. and hey, my son is pretty bald - he's almost 2.. hopefully his hair will grow in by 4. but i do think they could have illistrated the characters better. the character's features are ridiculously small and ugly. if it was a nicer show to look at, im sure people wouldnt hate it so much.

Thank you thank you thank you for this article. Cailou is simply awful. The show is literally cailou experiencing dull situations or him whining about not getting what he wants. A main parenting goal I have is to encourage my son to be nothing like cailou.
